The "Aeon Houses" project represents a contemporary approach to reviving the traditional architecture of Lefkada, where the old and the new coexist in harmony.
The intervention is based on preserving the existing built shell, which remains intact as the central element of the composition, maintaining authenticity and a connection to the local architectural heritage. However, a new architectural "veil" of light, curved surfaces and characteristic arches surrounds the old building, creating an intriguing contrast between the rigid geometric character of the stone and the fluid, modern forms.
The veil acts as a filter, providing shading and privacy while simultaneously "revealing" the building, enhancing the sense of discovery and transition from traditional to contemporary. The arches establish a dialogue with the historical architecture of the Ionian Islands and define the spaces of the living area, dining area, and private pools, offering a unique play of light and shadow throughout the day.
The overall composition exudes tranquility, luxury, and understated elegance, respecting the history of the place and the needs of a modern residence.
